(Macau, 22 November 2015) – Felix Rosenqvist took victory in the 62nd Macau Grand Prix for SJM Theodore Racing, his second win in the race and Theodore Racing’s eighth.

The Swedish driver emerged from an early battle for the lead with Charles Leclerc, in which they continually swapped positions in the opening laps, and made his winning bid on a restart after the race was suspended due to a large accident.

All three SJM Theodore Racing by Prema drivers finished in the top 10 in what was a very successful weekend for the team, with Canadian Lance Stroll rising from a starting position of 13th to claim eighth place, and Englishman Jake Dennis right behind him in ninth.  Both were rookies at Macau.

SJM Theodore Racing Team Principal Mr. Teddy Yip Jr. said, “It is a dream come true for me and my family to be Macau Champions for a record eighth time with Theodore Racing.  We took victory on our return to Macau in 2013 with Alex Lynn and to repeat this achievement just two years later with Felix Rosenqvist is a seriously amazing achievement.

SJM directors Ambrose So, Angela Leong and Rui Cunha visited the Guia Street Circuit today to show their support, cheering the team onto victory.  SJM continues to be the title sponsor and official partner of SJM Theodore Racing this year, marking its third consecutive year of support for the team, with ICBC (Macau) being the promotion partner.

Felix Rosenqvist said, “Winning Macau gets better every time!  Even with all the preparation you still have to do the job on the track. You also need luck.  I was really strong on the first couple of laps so even if Charles passed me I was confident I could repass him. We went aggressive on set-up so my tyres were worse at the end and he caught up. One mistake and he would have been right there – it was a tough race!”

Lance Stroll commented, “My start was good, but as I came out of the Mandarin kink I got pushed to the wall. That was a little bit scary – I bent a rear wishbone, but nothing major. I got a good number of positions at Lisboa, the first braking point, and was lucky not to collide with anyone. For some reason I was struggling after that – the rear was sliding quite a bit; maybe it was the wishbone damage. It could have been a better result – a lot of things got in the way but with everything that happened eighth isn’t bad.”

Jake Dennis said, “It was not the most exciting race from my point of view, even though being in Macau has been a really cool experience and I have really enjoyed the atmosphere. I moved forward a couple of positions, but I struggled a little bit in the race with the handling. But I’m happy for the team – they did a great job and I’m proud that they won with Felix.”
