(Macau, 16 December 2009) – Yesterday evening, at 8:00 p.m. the most recent casino in the SJM portfolio of properties - Casino Oceanus at Jai Alai - opened its doors to the public.

The officiating guests of the event included the Chief Executive of the Macau SAR Mr. Edmund Ho, Deputy Director of The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macau SAR Ms. Gao Yan, Commissioner of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The People's Republic of China in the Macau SAR Mr. Lu Shu Min, and Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macau SAR Mr. Francis Tam, accompanied by directors of SJM, Dr. Ambrose So, Mr. Louis Ng and Ms. Angela Leong, who formally opened the property.

In his speech to the guests, Dr. So, Chief Executive Officer of SJM Holdings Limited, said, "At SJM we take pride in growing our business while contributing back to society following the principles of Dr. Stanley Ho. And we take pride in our company being part of the success story of Macau."

He went on, "What you see in front of you is a transformation, a transformation undertaken in a short period of time and perfected by many skilled people who have worked so hard to make sure that everything is ready for today. On behalf of Dr. Ho and the directors of SJM, I thank them all."

Explaining the origins of the name of the property, Dr. So said, "The name Oceanus recalls the ancient god of the waters and the maritime heritage of Macau. All waters go to the ocean, which abounds with vast riches and untold treasures. Water is the source of energy and power. It also represents wealth and good fortune in Chinese tradition. Likewise, it is our wish that Oceanus will bring continuing prosperity and energy to Macau, and more wealth and good luck to all of you."

Initial reports indicate that there were more than 40,000 visitors to the property last night.

In order to celebrate its Grand Opening during the festive season, Oceanus launched a series of promotional campaigns to Oceanus Club members that will run from 15th to 31st December.
