
SJM Celebrates the Official Opening of the Grand Lisboa Hotel, Macau The landmark that represents the achievements and aspirations of SJM
(Macau, 17 December 2008) – Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (SJM) today celebrates the momentous occasion of the grand opening of the Grand Lisboa Hotel, the flagship hotel and the newest deluxe five-star establishment of the Group.
The opening ceremony of the Grand Lisboa Hotel was officiated by Mr. Edmund Ho, Chief Executive of the Macau SAR Government, Mr. Xu Ze, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macau SAR, Mr. Song Yan Bin, Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macau SAR and Mr. Chui Sai On, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macau SAR Government together with Dr. Stanley Ho, Managing Director of SJM and Dr. Cheng Yu Tung, President of the Board of Directors of SJM.
The opening of Grand Lisboa Hotel, Macau, raises SJM to new heights and opens a new chapter in Macau's hospitality industry. Dr. Stanley Ho said, "The official opening of the Grand Lisboa Hotel today completes this ambitious achievement – the Grand Lisboa Hotel and Casino. It is the second hotel to bear the Lisboa name, and a worthy inheritor of its proud tradition. The antiques and works of art include "The World of Bears" in jade, a fine mammoth tusk carving of the "Monkey King", the "Singing Bird" clock and the "Tiangong Cifu" clock from the Qing Dynasty, the Bronze Horse Head of Yuanmingyuan (Summer Palace) and other valuable and rare items.
