SJM hosts summer interest classes for staff’s children 37 classes comprising 500 students
SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) opened a number of interest classes for children of staff, to help students gain skills and knowledge during the summer vacation. Organised by the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee (“SWCC”) and Performance Improvement Department, this year marked the fifth consecutive year of the summer classes, with an enrollment of 500 students, the highest record over the past years. A total of 37 classes in four categories were offered: sports, pastry-making, art and craft, culture and interest. Amongst them, karate, pastry-making, and art and craft were the most popular ones.
The summer programme was kicked off by the dessert-making class on 19 July 2021. Staff helpers assisted on site to facilitate communication and to understand more about the needs and expectations of the parents and children towards the classes, with the goals to enhance the students’ learning motivation and to enrich their knowledge for a fulfilling summer vacation.
Managing Director of SJM and Chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee Ms. Angela Leong said that the company was pleased to note the growing number of participating students since the summer classes were first introduced in 2017. The organisation of summer classes is not only an extension of welfare activities for the staff members, but also serves as a platform where the children can build their initiatives, and acquire new skills and knowledge through learning and practices, enabling them to broaden their horizons and cultivate positive attitudes and values towards life.
