Another record month for SJM as it begins the new year as it ended the last, with over 30% of the gaming market in January 2010
(Macau, 2 February 2010) – The LUSA news agency has released provisional data showing that the Macau gaming market started 2010 with yet another new record with monthly gross revenues for January of MOP13.58 billion. This represents an increase of 65% year-on-year.
Of all the six concessionaires, SJM retains its market leadership position with a market share of just over 30%.
Commenting on the news, Louis Ng, Director and Chief Operating Officer of SJM, said, “SJM has started 2010 as it means to carry on – leading the Macau gaming market! With the recently opened SJM Casino Oceanus at Jai Alai, we have consolidated our market position. This we have done prudently and without the need for external funding.” He went on, “The data for revenue and visitation attest to the fact that the Macau Peninsula continues to be the favoured destination for visitors.”
He went on, “With SJM’s strong position in the mass market gaming sector, we look forward to an extremely busy and successful Chinese New Year festival.”
