
SJM expands gaming market share to 30.9%
(Macau, 5 November 2009) – Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. ( "SJM" ), the leading gaming concessionaire company in Macau, has expanded its market share to 30.9% in terms of gaming revenues.
Provisional data from Lusa, the Portuguese media agency, show that October 2009 represented a new record month with gross gaming revenues of MOP12.6 billion, about MOP1.4 billion more than the previous record in August this year.
SJM continues to be the clear winner in the mass market sector with 42.9% of the business, significantly ahead of the other concessionaires.
Commenting on the results, Louis Ng, SJM Chief Operating Officer, said, "We are proud to see that SJM maintains its market leadership position in Macau. Against a backdrop of an expanding market, we have successfully maintained our number one market position."
He went on, "With its long history and deep roots in Macau, SJM has built long term relationships with our VIP room operators. This is reflected in our 27.5% share of the total VIP gaming revenue in Macau. In addition, we have committed ourselves to maintaining a high level of innovation in the gaming industry. This means that our visitors return to us to enjoy their gaming entertainment experiences."
