
SJM Continues to Organise “Health Carnival”
19 June 2025 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) continues to organise “Health Carnival” this year, with the central theme “Self-health Management.” The week-long programme features advanced AI health screening technologies alongside traditional Chinese medicine therapeutic experiences, forming a comprehensive series of activities designed to encourage team members to focus on physical and mental health. Through these initiatives, SJM aims to foster sustainable healthy lifestyle practices among its team members while actively supporting the Macao SAR Government’s “Healthy Enterprise” and “Healthy Community” programmes.
The launching ceremony of SJM “Health Carnival” took place on 19 June at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (“Grand Lisboa Palace”). The ceremony was officiated by Mr. Wang Huijie, Chief of the Division of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Dr. Leong Iek Hou, Head of the Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Health Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Ms. Lei Lai Peng, Head of the Department of Family and Community Services of the Social Welfare Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Ms. Angela Leong, Director of SJM and Chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee and SJM management.
The event received support from several organisations and associations, which were presented with appreciation certificates by SJM. The certificates were accepted by Ms. Ho Sut Heng, President of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Posso Ip, Service Director of the Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office, Mr. Tony Tsui, Head of Consulting of Mercer (Hong Kong) Limited, Ms. Betty Chu, Head of Macau of Mercer (Hong Kong) Limited (Macau Branch), Mr. Danny Loi, Executive Director of Cheng Mio Medical Center and Mr. Dani Cheong, Executive Director of Cheng Mio Medical Center.

SJM “Health Carnival” officially commenced after the launching ceremony, with “Self-health Management” as its central theme. Specially designed exhibition areas are set up across staff areas at Grand Lisboa Palace, Grand Lisboa Macau, and Jai Alai Hotel. The event incorporates AI health screening technology, highlighting dedicated health and fitness assessment stations that provide comprehensive evaluations for team members, with personalised professional suggestions based on test results to help identify potential health risks at an early stage. Multiple health promotion booths offer diverse services including traditional Chinese medicine therapies, infectious disease prevention, mental health consultations and cervical cancer screening, all staffed by healthcare professionals providing personalised guidance to safeguard participants’ physical and mental health. Engaging interactive games with prizes are organised to encourage active participation, while staff restaurants simultaneously introduce healthier menu options featuring low-sodium, low-sugar and reduced-oil dishes to promote balanced nutrition. This holistic initiative integrates health management into daily life, fostering lasting healthy lifestyle habits among the workforce.
SJM, as one of the first organisations to participate in the “Healthy Enterprise Programme” jointly organised by the Macau Healthy City Committee and Health Bureau, has implemented multiple health promotion initiatives since January 2024. These include establishing self-health monitoring stations in staff areas, launching the “SJM Cares” support hotline, providing healthier dining options, and regularly sharing health information. To date, the company has organised over 40 health promotion seminars and outreach activities, attracting more than 28,000 participations in total. To extend the social benefits of its health initiatives, SJM has opened selected activities to Macau residents, encouraging team members to practise healthy lifestyles together with their family and friends. Furthermore, in collaboration with the Sports Bureau, SJM has arranged special “Macau Citizen Physical Fitness Monitoring and Assessment” sessions, offering professional evaluations to help both team members and residents understand their physical condition data, demonstrating our steadfast commitment to building a healthier community.
SJM will continue to fully support the Macao SAR Government in achieving the objectives outlined in the “Healthy Macau Blueprint”, with plans to expand health education initiatives by organising additional health seminars and enhancing both the scope and depth of community health awareness campaigns, demonstrating its steadfast commitment to fostering a qualitative healthy living environment across Macau.
