Developed by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (“SJM”), the Grand Lisboa Palace integrated resort held its first major recruitment event for Macau residents from 21 to 23 August 2020 at the Grand Ballroom of Grand Lisboa Hotel. Covering thirty departments at the Grand Lisboa Palace, a majority of the job vacancies were non-gaming positions. The three-day event received almost 2,000 local applicants, among which about 600 candidates were offered initial selection notices onsite.

SJM organised the recruitment event jointly with Macao Federation of Trade Unions, General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau, Macau Gaming Industry Labourers Association and Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home. Fresh graduates from local tertiary institutions were also invited to participate.

Representatives of the Labour Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government paid visits to the event and conversed with members of SJM’s Human Resources department to understand the job-matching procedures and progress.

Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, said, “SJM gives priority to recruiting local talent for job openings and is dedicated to promoting career advancement for local employees. As a milestone development of SJM on Cotai, the Grand Lisboa Palace is organising a series of recruitment activities in preparation for its opening. Through multi-channel promotions and collaboration with various organisations, we aim to reach diverse groups of job-seekers in the community. SJM highly values the development of local talent. In addition to creating job opportunities for society, we devote great effort in providing training courses for our employees to encourage self-improvement, which effort has not been suspended even during the pandemic.”

Adhering to Macau SAR Government’s guidelines on reducing group gatherings amidst the pandemic, all job interviews at the recruitment event were arranged by advanced appointments. Interactive zones were presented onsite, introducing some of the facilities at the Grand Lisboa Palace. Candidates also enjoyed dialogues with department representatives of the resort to understand more about the job openings.

The Grand Lisboa Palace is expected to open by the end of 2020, subject to obtaining necessary operating permits. More than 90% of its total area comprises a full range of non-gaming facilities, including approximately 1,900 rooms and suites housed in Grand Lisboa Palace hotel, Palazzo Versace Macau and THE KARL LAGERFELD, in addition to abundant entertainment and leisure facilities.
