Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (“SJM”) was presented a certificate of recognition as a Certified Sustainable Development Corporation (“CSDC”) at the 4th Sustainable Development Forum held in Hong Kong on 23 November 2020. The award is in recognition of SJM’s fulfillment of the 17 sustainable development goals set out by the United Nations, demonstrating the company’s long term work and contribution in sustainable development.
CSDC is a certificate awarded by World Institute of Sustainable Development Planners and supported by UNESCO Hong Kong Association and Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development. SJM successfully underwent the judging process earlier, which covered environmental friendliness, SMEs, staff continued education, responsible gaming, charity work, cultural and educational activities, and other areas related to sustainable development.
SJM has been long promoting the culture of sustainable development in the company and community through different channels. In addition to allocating resources on energy saving, SJM has continued to provide training to front-line staff members amidst the pandemic in 2020, recording an attendance of approximately 20,000 staff since May with over 150,000 training hours. Simultaneously, SJM collaborated with Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development in organising a Proficiency Certificate Course “Sustainable Development in Macau Tourism, Leisure, Entertainment – Responsible Gaming”, with 105 staff members graduated and awarded with certificates. In the future, SJM will continue to organise training courses related to sustainable development to all staff members of the company, contributing to the building of a prosperous, harmonious, healthy and sustainable society in Macau.
