
SJM recognised for its support to elderly employment
Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (“SJM”) was recognised for its long term efforts in providing employment opportunities to the elderly at the 2020 Elderly Employment Award Presentation Ceremony held on 26 November 2020 at the Grand Ballroom of Grand Lisboa. In addition, Mr. Lai Kam Tong, Duty Engineer of Electrical and Mechanical Department of SJM, was selected one of the ten best performing elderly employees out of a total of 254 nominees.
The elderly employment award programme was organised by Social Welfare Bureau and Labour Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government and co-organised by Social Security Fund of the Macau SAR Government. Fifty-two corporations and institutions with elderly employees participated in the programme. The objective of the programme was to promote more elderly employment through raising public recognition and appreciation of elderly’s working abilities.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, said, “Upholding the ‘people-oriented’ principle, SJM attaches great importance on nurturing talents, while providing upward and horizontal development opportunities for our staff members. We wish to extend our sincere congratulations to Mr. Lai Kam Tong. Mr. Lai started as an apprentice and is now a professional engineer and department supervisor of the company. Growing together with the company over the past 50 years, he has helped train many colleagues and is a role model for the young generations.”
Mr. Lai is currently working at SJM’s Oceanus at Jai Alai. He was honoured to receive the award, and was grateful for the company’s support throughout his career development. He said he would continue to strive for improvement and dedicate his work to the company.
