
SJM participates in International Environmental Crisis Management Forum and Exhibition 2020
Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (“SJM”) was one of the supporting entities of the International Environmental Crisis Management Forum and Exhibition 2020 (“IECMF”), organised by Macau Fair & Trade Association, Guangdong and Macao Federation of Industry and Commerce and MICE Alliance of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The opening ceremony was held on 19 November 2020 in Macau, officiating guests included Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Mr. Edmund Ho Hau Wah, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR Mr. Yao Jian, Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macau SAR Ms. Wang Dong, Director of the Macau Government Tourism Office Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Macau SAR Government Mr. Tam Wai Man, President of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute Mr. Lau Wai Meng, Managing Director of SJM Ms. Angela Leong and others. SJM participated in the forum and exhibition, demonstrating its support to society during the COVID-19 pandemic and Typhoon Hato.
Mr. Daniel Shim, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of SJM represented the company at the round-table session with Macau’s six integrated resorts, by sharing the contributions of SJM to society during the pandemic. Such works included donating MOP20 million to aid Hubei, providing hotels as venues of medical observation, and donating kits full of daily necessities purchased from local SMEs to Macau’s neediest families. With focus on education, SJM sponsored the SEN Learning Programme to offer extra learning support to students with special education needs, and also sponsored the “Calling Macau Students to Fight Virus with Art” activity, releasing positive energy to society. On behalf of the Chairman of SJM Ms. Daisy Ho, he invited all participants on site to join in applause for the heroes who fought bravely against the virus.
Talking about protecting employees’ health and safety, Mr. Shim said that it is essential to have timely communication with employees to ensure that every employee receive the same and latest information. It is equally paramount to adhere to the different measures stipulated by the Macau SAR government during different pandemic phases. Additionally, it is also crucial to let the employees know that the company has always been standing firmly with them to fight the disease by means of encouragement messages and small gifts to warm their hearts.
