SJM supports Macau Special Olympics’ SEN Learning Programme
Sponsored by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (“SJM”), the SEN Learning Programme recently launched by Macau Special Olympics (“MSO”) offers extra learning support to students with special education needs (“SEN”), in response to the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau’s initiative to encourage students to continue learning amid class suspension during the pandemic, with an aim to enable students to catch up at school when semester restarts.
The Programme offers two professional support plans for students with SEN: Remote Learning Plan and Individual Education Plan. In the Remote Learning Plan, customised e-learning programmes and devices are designed by SEN professionals to address individual learners’ needs to facilitate parents to assist their children to study online from home.
In addition, MSO partners with SEN teaching staff in delivering “1-to-1” tuition to keep the pupils fully engaged in their learning, ensuring that they are well prepared for the resumption of classes. Conducted with strict adherence to health and safety measures, tutoring in-person aims to lessen the pressure of parents in home-schooling during the pandemic.
Mr. Hetzer Siu Yu Hong, Executive Director of MSO, said, “Following the donation of daily necessities to our needy members last month, SJM has once again supported us in this SEN Learning Programme, which aims to address the different needs of our students who are currently studying from home, while reducing the pressure of parents in home-schooling. We are deeply grateful to SJM for their continued support and caring actions.”
Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, said, “We are pleased to support MSO in providing additional resources for students with SEN, in response to the government’s initiative of ‘suspending classes without suspending learning’. SJM stands firmly with the government and the local community in fighting the virus. We extend our warmest wishes to everyone at this challenging time, and hope that the Covid-19 pandemic will end soon.”
The SEN Learning Programme is held from April to June this year. For enquiries, please contact MSO at 6651 6414.
