Associação de Cultura e Arte Chinesa de Macau (Macau Chinese Culture and Arts Association) invites Macau students to submit calligraphy works and paintings to its newly launched activity “Calling Macau Students to Fight Virus with Art” to express their feelings of concern towards the epidemic. Sponsored by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (“SJM”), the activity aims to contribute to the concerted efforts of society in fighting the disease, while promoting Chinese culture and creativity in arts amongst the young generation.

With “Love in the Time of Coronavirus” as the theme, the activity welcomes all students from Macau’s primary and secondary schools to join, under the levels of Primary Junior (P1 – P3), Primary Senior (P4 – P6), Secondary Junior (F1 – F3), or Secondary Senior (F4 – F6). The activity is divided into two categories: Chinese Calligraphy and Painting. For Chinese Calligraphy, there is no restriction on the script style and paper used, while for Painting, no restriction as to the medium or paper used.

To complement the government’s efforts in containing the spread of the disease, students are encouraged to stay home and submit their entries by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Each submission should contain the student’s full name, age, school name, grade, entry category, telephone number and email address, and state “Calling Macau Students to Fight Virus with Art” as subject of the email. With the ultimate aim to encourage students to express their concern towards the epidemic via calligraphy and painting, the organiser will present every participating student an Encouragement Certificate, and arrange publication of as many entries as possible in the newspaper as a sign of support and encouragement for the students. Outstanding entries will be selected by a panel of judges comprised of veteran calligraphers and art professionals. For each level, there will be one first prize, two second prizes, four third prizes and considerable merit prizes, each will receive cash credit for book purchases plus an Award Certificate.
