“SJM Local MSME Business Matching Session” Supporting Local Business Development, Fostering Win-Win Cooperation
19 June 2023 - SJM Resorts S.A. (“SJM”) fully supports the Macau SAR Government's policy of prioritising local procurement and supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). On 19 June 2023, SJM organised the “SJM Local MSME Business Matching Session” at the 2/F of meeting room of the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (“Grand Lisboa Palace”), in which 16 local MSMEs from sectors including local delicatessen and gifts, eco-friendly products, media design, and information technology participated. Through this event, SJM aims to provide a convenient communication platform for “micro-enterprises”, “Made in Macau”, and “young entrepreneurship”, fostering more business opportunities and creating win-win cooperation.
The event was attended by Mr. Tai Kin Ip, Director of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau, Macau SAR Government, Mr. Wei Lixin, Vice President of the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Center, Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, and representatives from SJM's procurement, market development, sustainable development, and catering departments. During the event, various MSME representatives showcased their company's products and services, shared market trends in their respective fields, and engaged in exchanges with representatives from SJM's different departments to actively explore future cooperation opportunities.
In her welcoming speech, Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, expressed, “SJM is deeply rooted in Macau for six decades and serves as an old friend of 'Macau Street' as we maintain cooperative relationships with local MSMEs under the tenet of 'From Society, To Society'. Today, we are delighted to welcome new friends and hope to deepen mutual understanding through interactive exchanges, paving the way for long-term partnerships. With trust, communication, and mutual understanding, let us join hands to promote moderate economic diversification for our city.”
Various MSME representatives expressed that through this business matching event, they were able to have direct dialogues with SJM's user departments and procurement team, gaining a deeper understanding of specific procurement needs, procedures, and policies. This will help optimise the current service format and lay a solid foundation for close cooperation between the two parties. The event concluded with Mr. Tai Kin Ip, Director of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau and Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM presenting certificates to participating enterprises.
SJM has actively promoted local industry development over the years. Through the “SJM and Macau SME Procurement Partnership Programme”, SJM has been proactively supporting local MSMEs and young entrepreneurship, especially original products with Macau characteristics. In May 2022, SJM designated a “Made in Macau” themed shopping space at The Bazar in Grand Lisboa Palace, to provide a development platform for numerous local MSMEs and brands, to promote synergy between MSMEs and integrated resorts, and establish a creative hub for high-quality local brands.
