SJM hosts “A Racing Legacy - Behind the Scene of Grand Prix” for local students
16 November 2024 – Sponsored by SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”), the highly anticipated 71st Macau Grand Prix officially kicked off on 14 November. As a long-time supporter of the annual event, SJM not only serves as one of the elite sponsors but also proudly continues its title sponsorship of the SJM Theodore Racing. To further engage the community in the excitement of the races, SJM launched “A Racing Legacy” series of events. On 16 November, SJM hosted “A Racing Legacy – Behind the Scene of Grand Prix,” a special garage tour for local university students, giving them a firsthand look at the racing venue and the chance to cheer on the drivers.
Guided by SJM team members and Theodore Racing’s representatives, the university students visited the two garages of SJM Theodore Racing, where they met the racers competing in the FIA FR World Cup and the FIA GT World Cup. The racers shared insights into team operation, race car mechanic and race preparation, offering the students a unique glimpse into the professions and team spirits of motorsport. This experience ignited their interest and passion for the Macau Grand Prix, encouraged them to start planning on their career path early, and significantly enhanced the students’ understanding of racing culture, instilled in them a sense of pride in Macau’s rich racing heritage.
As a steadfast supporter of the Macau Grand Prix, SJM aims to nurture the next generation of racing enthusiasts through its “A Racing Legacy” series of events, which includes “A Racing Legacy – Drivers’ Collection Exhibition” that runs until 3 February 2025, as well as “A Racing Legacy – Where Local Drivers’ Dreams Take Flight” sharing talk and “A Racing Legacy – Where Theodore Racing’s Performance Reached its Peak” fireside talk. These events deepen the knowledge of local youth and fuel their passion for motorsport, passing on the sport’s spirit of dedication.
SJM is also committed to fostering Macau’s burgeoning sports industry, working collaboratively with the government and local organisations, supporting the hosting of international sporting events in a variety of disciplines, including martial arts, tennis, and golf. This synergistic approach, blending “Sports + Tourism,” aligns with Macau’s goal of becoming a “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.”
