SJM hosts “Little Driver, Grand Racing” preheat event for local children to experience the thrill of racing
26 October 2024 – As the highly-anticipated 71st Macau Grand Prix gears up for its grand return next month, SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) recently organised an engaging “Little Driver, Grand Racing” event at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau on 26 October. The event, designed to ignite excitement throughout the community, welcomed 24 children and parents from the Good Shepherd Sisters Women’s Mutual Help Centre, offering them a thrilling preview of Macau’s iconic annual international race.
On the event day, “GLP Arte” transformed into a vibrant racing carnival. Under the guidance of professional instructors, participants delved into the fascinating world of race car mechanics and control techniques through the workshop. Children also had the chance to paint their own racing car models, unleashing their creativity and imagination. A fun-filled remote-controlled car competition followed, allowing participants to experience the thrill of racing firsthand. Children then headed to the “Sportopia” game zone, themed around the Grand Prix, where they enjoyed a car race through a virtual reality-integrated “Speed Racer” game. This experience provided them with the unparalleled excitement and fun that racing brings. Through these engaging and informative car racing themed activities, SJM hopes to spark a deeper understanding and interest in racing among children, contributing to the legacy of Macau’s racing culture and competitive spirit.
As one of the elite sponsors of the Macau Grand Prix, SJM is deeply committed to nurturing the growth of sports in Macau. Working closely with the government and community organisations, SJM brings top-tier international sporting events to the city, spanning motorsport, martial arts, tennis, golf, and more. This commitment supports the synergy of “Sports + Tourism,” reinforcing Macau’s status as “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.” Meanwhile, SJM strategically organises community outreach activities surrounding these major events, injecting positive energy into the “City of Sports.”
