25 October 2024 – In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of The People’s Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR, SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”), the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee (“SWCC”) and the SJM Joint Consultative Committee (“SJCC”) hosted two receptions at The Grand Pavilion of Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau. Mr. Timothy Fok, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM; Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM; Ms. Angela Leong, Director of SJM and Chairman of SWCC; Mr. David Shum, Director of SJM; Mr. Vong Hin Fai, Consultant of SJCC; Mr. Vong Keng Hei, Representative of Consultant of the SJCC; and approximately 3,000 staff members participated in the celebration receptions, joining together to extend their heartfelt wishes to the Motherland and Macao SAR.

As in previous years, the receptions were held at midday and in late afternoon to accommodate staff members’ work arrangements. Highlight reels from the event were also shown in the staff area, allowing more employees to participate in the celebration and share in the festive spirit. This marked the second time the event was hosted at The Grand Pavilion. The reception opened with a solemn flag-raising ceremony. SJM’s flag-raising team carried the five-star red flag to the podium in a traditional Chinese military march. As the national flag was raised to the sound of the national anthem, staff stood in respectful silence and paid tribute.

Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, reflected on the achievements of the nation over the past 75 years, stating, “The motherland has always been the backbone of Macau’s stability and prosperity. Over the past 25 years, under the care of the Motherland and the successful implementation of ‘One Country, Two Systems,’ Macau has embarked on a promising journey of economic diversification. As a key contributor to the city’s development, SJM has consistently embraced the spirit of ‘Love the Motherland, Love Macau’. Aligned with the Macao SAR Government’s direction for economic development, we remain committed to creating and investing in new opportunities, while nurturing high-quality talent. Through the development of a variety of ‘Tourism+’ products, we aim to elevate Macau’s international image and share the compelling stories of China and Macau.” She further encouraged staff to identify their strengths in alignment with the needs of the nation and Macau, in order to contribute to the modernisation and rejuvenation of the nation.

Ms. Angela Leong, Director of SJM and Chairman of SWCC, stated in her remarks, “Over the years, SJM has deepened our employees’ understanding of our nation’s history and cultivated a strong sense of patriotism through various themed activities. I hope all our colleagues will continue to uphold the spirited determination of the Chinese people and focus on their personal growth. Together with SJM, let us forge a promising future and enhance Macau’s distinct brand of influence.”

As the ceremony concluded, senior management, invited guest and staff raised a toast, wishing for the continued prosperity and stability of the motherland and Macau, as well as the successful implementation of “One Country, Two Systems.” The reception serves not only as a celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of The People’s Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR, but also reaffirmed SJM’s steadfast commitment and unwavering support for the development of the Motherland and the Macao SAR.
