SJM encourages youth participation in sports with Golf Clinic
13 October 2024 – Sponsored and co-organised by SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”), the SJM Macao Open 2024 is being held from 10 to 13 October at the Macau Golf & Country Club. To promote the sport, SJM hosted a Golf Clinic today, inviting professional players to share the excitement of golf with local students.
The event took place at the Macau Golf & Country Club this afternoon. Professional golf players, Panuphol Pittayarat, winner of the 2018 Thailand Open on the Asian Tour, and Ye Wocheng, the winner of 2023 Volvo China Open Qualifying, were invited to share their journeys to success, attracting 21 students from Pui Ching Middle School Macau, The International School of Macao, Sacred Heart Canossian College (English Session) and Macau Baptist College. An interactive Q&A session followed, allowing students to deepen their understanding of golf and experience firsthand the passion and dedication of professional athletes. The players also demonstrated their skills and interacted with the students by signing autographs and taking group photos with the students. The event concluded with students participating in the eyesight challenge, wining attractive prizes in the Fan Village.
In addition to promoting sports awareness and interest among the youth, SJM places heavy emphasis on social inclusion. At an event co-organised by SJM and the Macau Special Olympics (“MSO”), titled “Golf Fun Workshop,” held on 19 September, the members of SJM Volunteer Team joined MSO athletes in golf lessons and interactive activities. The event aimed to offer a fun golf experience while advocating the spirit of inclusion and equality.
Through various sports activities, SJM hopes to introduce young students to golf and inspire them to learn the physical and mental qualities required for success in sports, thereby building confidence and perseverance. SJM will continue to leverage its resources and strengths to inject positive energy into the Macau community, promoting the development and popularity of sports and enhancing social harmony to contribute to the city’s sustainable growth.
