25 August 2024 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (SJM) joined hands with Yat On Responsible Gambling Counselling Centre and the Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home to host the “Seeking Help for Winning the Future” Carnival from 23 to 25 August. Held at Ponte 16 Resort Macau, the carnival featured game booths and display panels at the outdoor plaza of Ponte 16, allowing the public to learn about responsible gambling in an interactive manner. The event aimed to convey eight key cognitive and behavioural messages, while promoting professional services offered by community support and counselling centres.

To complement the government's efforts in promoting responsible gambling within the community, a photo exhibition was set up at the venue to showcase Macau’s history, offering insights on how the city’s gaming industry and responsible gambling initiatives have evolved over the years. Souvenir items that feature relevant information were given out to attending visitors to raise public awareness on the topic.

Additionally, SJM organised a community flash mob in partnership with the S.K.H. Macau Social Services Coordination Office, engaging with locals and tourists in pedestrian areas around Ponte 16 and San Ma Lo. During the event, information cards on responsible gambling were distributed to emphasise the importance of sensible money management and moderate gaming. Details on initial assessment and referral services, including booking guidelines, were also provided to support those affected by gambling disorders, enabling individuals to seek professional help when needed.

SJM has been working closely with social service organisations, tertiary institutions and professional bodies on the theme of “Seeking Help for Winning the Future” to promote responsible gambling. With the goal of informing the public, tourists and employees alike with essential information and self-help resources, SJM will continue to engage the community through various initiatives in a bid to raise awareness on the harms of gambling addiction and the importance of responsible gambling. Those who are currently affected by gambling issues are encouraged to solicit help from professionals.
