
SJM hosts Professional Culinary Workshop for members of ARTM Integrated Service Center
16 September 2024 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) is committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility through a range of initiatives aimed at making a positive social impact. As part of its efforts to support the reintegration of disadvantaged people into society, SJM hosted an exclusive culinary workshop on 16 September for members of the ARTM Integrated Service Center. The workshop focused on teaching cooking skills to help participants improve their vocational abilities, enabling them to return to the workforce with greater confidence and realise their full potential.
During the event, Herlander Fernandes, Head Chef of Mesa by José Avillez at THE KARL LAGERFELD MACAU, gave a demonstration at the ARTM Integrated Service Center, showcasing the preparation of one of the restaurant’s signature dishes – Grilled Octopus with Potatoes and Red Pepper Nut Sauce. Head Chef Fernandes guided the seven members of the ARTM Integrated Service Center through each step, sharing professional tips and techniques. With his patient guidance, participants tried their hand at preparing the dish themselves, gaining valuable experience and progressively mastering the process.
The participants were greatly encouraged to have successfully prepared delicious Portuguese dishes under the guidance of a professional chef. They all said that this invaluable opportunity not only taught them new vocational skills but also gave them more courage to tackle future challenges they will encounter in their lives.
