19 July 2024 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM") organised the 8^th “Jiangxi Jinggangshan Patriotic Education and Training Programme” from 15 to 19 July 2024. Coinciding with the 75^th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25^th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macau SAR, this year’s programme was expanded to include not only SJM team members and their young children but also youth from various Macau community organisations. The event aimed to unite employees and young people in promoting Chinese heritage and fostering the “Love the Motherland, Love Macau” spirit of patriotism.

The opening ceremony was held on 16 July at the Red Education Base of the CPC Jinggangshan Municipal Committee. The event was attended by Li Bin, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of Jinggangshan City, and was led by Angela Leong, Director of SJM, Chairman of SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Jiangxi Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and honorary citizen of Jinggangshan. Attendees were encouraged to grasp this experiential learning opportunity to deeply understand the Jinggangshan spirit and strive towards building a modern socialist country.

The 96 participants received the class flag and took a solemn oath during the opening ceremony, officially starting the patriotic education training programme at the Jinggangshan Martyrs Cemetery. Participants laid wreaths to pay respects to the revolutionary martyrs and watched thematic educational materials such as “Eternal Faith — Dialogues Through Time”, “The Patriotic Spirit in Red Songs” and a large-scale outdoor performance “Jinggangshan”, deepening their understanding of Jinggangshan’s significant history as the first rural revolutionary base of the Communist Party of China. The course fully leveraged Jinggangshan’s profound red cultural heritage with field experiences in the outdoors, where participants experienced the harsh conditions of the Red Army at Thunder-hit Stone in Mount Jingzhu, the birthplace of the “The Three Rules of Discipline”. They also visited key educational sites like Jinggangshan Revolutionary Museum, the path for Carrying Food, Huangyangjie, The Octagonal Building in Maoping, Longjiang Academy and other famous battle sites to further study the revolutionary path led by the forefathers. Participants also visited Shenshan Village in Maoping, once a typical poor rural area and visited by Xi Jinping in 2016, who was the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China at the time. Under the national targeted poverty alleviation policy, the village has successfully transformed from a poor to a prosperous and cultured village.

Concluding the five-day programme, all participants sang revolutionary songs and took enthusiastic oaths. They all completed the course and joined the Alumni Association of Jinggangshan Cadre Training Academy of Macau, committed to applying what they learned to their work and life, promoting the “Jinggangshan Spirit” and inspiring national pride.

SJM has consistently adhered to its core values of “Love the Motherland, Love Macau”, organising various types of patriotic education courses and activities over the years to continuously strengthen and enhance patriotic consciousness among its team members and contemporary youth. Since 2011, SJM has regularly organised the “Jiangxi Patriotic Education Programme” and in 2014, established the “SJM Jinggangshan Patriotic Education Base” in Jiangxi, making it the first integrated resort and leisure enterprise in Macau to conduct patriotic education and red education tours. Going forward, SJM will continue to encourage the community to inherit the patriotic spirit and actively contribute to the development of a prosperous society based on the “Love the Motherland, Love Macau” motto.
