
2024 Soaring Dragon and Roaring Tiger celebrate the New Year SJM’s elegant collection of sentiments in ink
3 March 2024 – The Cultural-Recreational and Social Services Department of SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) Staff Welfare Consultative Committee (“SWCC”) held a gala dinner of “2024 Soaring Dragon and Roaring Tiger celebrate the New Year SJM’s elegant collection of sentiments in ink” on 3 March 2024 at the L'Arc Hotel Macau. Distinguished guests included Mr. Zhu Wei, Principal Staff Member of the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR and Ms. Angela Leong, Director of SJM and Chairman of SWCC.
Almost 100 guests, comprising calligraphy and painting artists, mainland students, and students from SJM calligraphy and painting class, gathered at the event to exchange their ideas and knowledge over the art and innovation of calligraphy and painting. The calligraphy and painting artists created several artworks at the event. Games with awards and singing performances were also arranged during the dinner in a lively atmosphere.
Ms. Angela Leong remarked during her speech, “Rooted in Macau, SJM strives to develop our city towards a hub for exchange and cooperation with Chinese culture as its mainstream, enjoying the synergy between different cultures. This initiative aims to promote the spirit of Chinese traditional culture and propel the development of local art and culture. This gala dinner will open our guests’ eyes to Chinese traditional culture through the theme “Sentiments in Ink”. Apart from showcasing the graceful artworks of each local calligraphy and painting artist, it also aimed to explore the creativity of teachers and students in both Macau and the mainland and Macau. This event celebrates both the blending of culture and the retention of character between the East and West, across the globe and over time.
