20 June 2024 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) is making significant strides in its environmental protection efforts. Following the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau and Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16’s wins of the Silver and Bronze Awards in last year’s “Macao Green Hotel Award,” the Grand Lisboa Macau has also secured the 2023 Green Hotel Award – Silver Award at the Macao Green Hotel Award Presentation Ceremony held on 20 June. This honour acknowledges the hotel’s steadfast commitment to Macao SAR’s environmental policies, its efforts to enhance green performance, and its dedication to fulfilling social responsibilities.

Grand Lisboa has demonstrated a strong commitment to SJM’s philosophy of environmental protection and sustainable development, making it an integral part of its business strategy. Through regular monitoring, the hotel effectively reduces resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. It has established carbon reduction targets and initiatives, focusing on waste reduction at the source, recycling, and environmental education to minimize waste and promote green living. These efforts have led to outstanding performances in the categories of “Green Leadership and Innovation,” “Green Program and Performance,” and “Partner Synergy,” according to the award evaluations.

The “Macao Green Hotel Award” is organized by the Environmental Protection Bureau in collaboration with the Macao Government Tourism Office, and supported by the Macao Hoteliers and Innkeepers Association, the Macao Hotel Association, the Macao Productivity and Technology Transfer Center, and the Macao Hotel Employees Association. The initiative aims to promote the vision of “Building a Low Carbon Macao, Creating Green Living Together” among the hotel industry. Each award is valid for three years, during which awardees must adhere to follow-up measures from the Environmental Protection Bureau.
