SJM launches multiple blood donation drives
4 June 2024 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) reaffirms its unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibilities by continuously supporting and hosting charitable activities within the community. In honour of World Blood Donor Day on 14 June 2024, SJM has launched multiple blood drives spanning from February to June. This initiative aims to motivate its team members to engage in blood donation, contributing to the stable blood reserve for the public health system.
In collaboration with the Health Bureau of the Macao SAR Government - Macao Blood Transfusion Service, and coordinated by the Staff Welfare Consultative Committee (“SWCC”) of SJM, the company has launched blood donation activities at its key properties, including Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (“Grand Lisboa Palace”), Grand Lisboa Macau (“Grand Lisboa”), and Jai Alai Oceanus, with the aim of encouraging SJM team members to donate blood. In January, SJM also organised a staff visit to blood bank at the Macao Blood Transfusion Service, where they attended a seminar on a wide variety of topics surrounding blood donation, including blood types, safety protocols and the organisation’s operation. This experience helped strengthen their passion for consistently donating blood.
The campaign saw strong participation from all SJM teams. Following the blood donation drives at Jai Alai Oceanus and Grand Lisboa in February and May respectively, the event was set to conclude at Grand Lisboa Palace on 3 to 4 June. There were a total of 297 volunteers registered in the campaign and 236 team members successfully donated blood, reflecting the love and support to the community from the company. Ms. Angela Leong, Director and Chairman of the SWCC of SJM, paid her special visit to the donors and healthcare professionals on site at Grand Lisboa Palace to express her deep appreciation for their commitment.
