SJM Resorts clinches third place at Macau International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition with Carbon Neutral Achievement Highlighting leadership in sustainable development
30 March 2024 — During the "2024 Macau International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition" (MIECF) held in Macau from March 28 to 30, 2024, SJM Resorts, S.A. ("SJM ") not only became the only integrated resort operator to achieve carbon-neutral certification for its exhibition booth but also won third place in the "Green Booth Award." This honor not only highlights SJM' leadership in green transformation and sustainable development but also recognizes its effectiveness in energy conservation, carbon reduction, and environmental innovation practices.
The theme of this year's MIECF, “Reaching the Dual Carbon Goals through Green Transformation," showcases SJM's commitment and actions towards actively pursuing Macau and China's dual carbon objectives through the successful carbon neutrality of its booth. SJM has implemented a series of energy saving and emission reduction measures in its operations, such as adopting efficient energy management systems, increasing waste recycling rates, and actively installing electric vehicle chargers. Through this exhibition, SJM demonstrated its comprehensive commitment and innovative approach to sustainable development to the industry and the public.
In addition to carbon-neutral certification, SJM also displayed the winning entries of the "Lunar New Year Items" Creative Recycling Design Competition at its thoughtfully designed premium exhibitor booth. This competition encouraged employees to transform leftover festive items into new, practical objects through creative thinking, not only enhancing employees' awareness of recycling but also demonstrating to the public the possibilities of combining environmental protection with creativity.
These practices and achievements of SJM fully demonstrate the company's efforts in promoting a green lifestyle, constructing green facilities, and participating in community environmental education. SJM’s sustainable development initiatives are reflected not only in internal management and operations but also positively impact the community and customers, showing the active role of corporate citizenship on the path to sustainable development.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, stated, "SJM is committed to supporting the Macau SAR Government in promoting green initiatives. With the commencement of a new concession, SJM is determined to integrate green and low-carbon practices into its business and activities using innovative approaches. Our shared responsibility for the environment can bring about significant societal benefits, as we actively contribute to building a sustainable ecosystem in support of the development of Macau and the Greater Bay Area in this new era."
SJM's achievements and practices not only set a green standard in the industry but also show society the limitless possibilities of combining environmental protection with innovation, providing new ideas for promoting green development in Macau and globally.
