
Fourth edition of the SJM Vocational Skills Competition Awards Ceremony
8 May 2024 – The annual “SJM Vocational Skills Competition,” organised by SJM Resorts, S.A., has recently concluded with an awards ceremony held on 8 May 2024 at The Grand Pavilion at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau to honour the outstanding winners. The event was attended by 250 guests including top management, department heads, the awardees, the judges and other employees.
During the ceremony, Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, Ms. Angela Leong, Director and Chairman of the Staff Welfare Consultative Committee of SJM, and Dr. Rui Cunha, Secretary General of SJM, presented the awards to the winners. The event also featured a video showcasing the exciting moments of the competition, enabling participants to relive the day’s challenges and triumphs.
Ms. Daisy Ho commented, “I am thrilled to see the participants’ drive and enthusiasm. The teams showcased their professional expertise and skills, and demonstrated their creativity and positive attitude when facing challenges. They even volunteered their own free time to prepare for the event. This high level of teamwork in pursuit of excellence truly reflects the core values of SJM. The company is proud to have such dedicated employees, who work with us day in and out to strive and contribute to Macau’s tourism and leisure industry.”
Ms. Angela Leong expressed, “The team members’ active participation in the competition not only improved their professional skills and knowledge, which are essential for career development, but also showcased their steadfast work ethic. This spirit has been pivotal in propelling the steady advancement and continuous innovation of company. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all team members for their collective efforts in overcoming various challenges with the company.”
SJM aims to foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork among its staff, which is central to its talent development strategy. This competition not only enhanced employees’ professional skills and service standards, but also promoted collaboration and mutual learning as well as reinforced a strong sense of belongingness. This year, 125 staffs competed across three different categories, including Gaming and Entertainment, Chinese and Western Gastronomy, and Housekeeping and Facility Management. This competition also serves as a qualifier for the winners to represent the company in local and open competitions, fostering industry engagement and aiming for outstanding performance.
