SJM provides “Cha de Arco-iris” tea shop with expert tea art training
12 December 2023 - SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) organised a specialised training session on 12 December, led by a tea master from its Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (“Grand Lisboa Palace”). The session was conducted for the vocational tea shop “Cha de Arco-iris” under the Fuhong Society of Macau. The training focused on introducing both the disabled and non-disabled individuals to the six major types of Chinese tea and guiding them in practicing brewing techniques. This initiative seeks to enhance participants’ occupational skills, to bolster their independence, and contribute towards the creation of an inclusive society.
The training was conducted at the “Cha de Arco-iris” tea shop, with 11 employees and service users participating. The tea master introduced the participants to the fundamentals of Chinese tea art. This included classifying different types of tea leaves, understanding the use of various tea brewing utensils, and gaining insights into current tea consumption trends. Through hands-on demonstrations, the tea master taught the art of brewing Chinese tea and provided inspirations for creating new hand-crafted beverages to the trainees. Under the guidance of the tea master, the trainees actively practiced brewing different types of tea and learned the steps of tea tasting. This comprehensive training session not only imparted professional knowledge but also practical skills, thereby enhancing the participants’ employability and helping them to unlock their potential in the workforce.
“Cha de Arco-iris” is the first vocational training tea shop by the Fuhong Society of Macau, run jointly by disabled and able-bodied individuals. It provides a real-world work environment that helps enhance communication, social, and job skills, fostering teamwork. This initiative opens up more job opportunities for these individuals, supporting their integration into society.
SJM, firmly established in Macau, is committed to nurturing a society that is inclusive and equitable for all, including able-bodied, disabled, and marginalised individuals. Partnering with the Fuhong Society of Macau, SJM has consistently co-hosted a range of vocational training programs. These efforts are aimed at facilitating faster social integration for participants, creating broader employment opportunities, and promoting a diverse and welcoming community in Macau.
