28 November 2023 - The “2023 CTA Tour SJM Professional Finals (Macau) and National Tennis Championships,” proudly sponsored by SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”), is slated for December. In anticipation of this prestigious event, SJM has renewed its collaboration with the University of Macau’s (“UM”) Office of Sports Affairs to host a complimentary, month-long “Advanced Tennis Camp.” This initiative aims to deepen young athletes’ enthusiasm and knowledge of tennis and nurture the next generation of local sports talent.

Building on the success of this summer’s two-week “Tennis Experience Camp,” the “Advanced Tennis Camp” once again featured current tennis athletes from UM as coaches. They provided intensive training to 27 young players, focusing on enhancing their forehand, backhand, serving, and volleying skills. The coaches offered personalised guidance to refine each participant’s playing stance and technique, ensuring improved performance. The camp included mini-tournaments, where participants sharpened their footwork, rally play, offensive and defensive strategies, and learned the essentials of scoring in competitive matches. As a token of encouragement and recognition, participants received certificates and a mini plush toy of SJM’s tourism ambassador “Sam the Rooster” dressed in tennis attire upon completion of the course. Several participants were praised for demonstrating their remarkable talent and deep passion for the sport.

With over 60 years of presence in Macau, SJM has been a fervent supporter and promoter of major sports events in the region. By hosting a variety of related activities, SJM is dedicated to fostering widespread community engagement in this annual national tennis tournament and contributing to the ongoing growth of Macau’s sports industry.
