9 November 2023 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) once again joined hands with the Fire Services Bureau to organise a fire prevention seminar and fire extinguisher practice this year. The activity aimed to raise awareness among front-line staff about fire prevention as well as to enhance their knowledge and application of fire equipment, to safeguard the safety of people and properties.

The fire prevention seminar was held on 9 November at the Grand Ballroom of Grand Lisboa Hotel and was attended by approximately 100 employees. The seminar covered various topics including the work of Fire Service Bureau, common fire emergencies, the proper use of fire extinguishers and fire hose reels, as well as daily electricity safety and precautions. Participants had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge about fire crisis and improve their self-rescue ability. In the afternoon, nearly 60 employees practised using fire extinguishers under the instruction of the Fire Service Bureau at the simulation site in the airport on Cotai. Representatives from the Fire Services Bureau provided detailed explanations on the operation principle of the fire system, enhancing the employees’ knowledge and skills in operating extinguish tools.

To improve reaction ability, evacuation techniques, and understanding of evacuation procedures during a fire, SJM organised a fire evacuation drill on 8 November at the Grand Lisboa Hotel. 95 employees from different departments quickly gathered in a designated outdoor area in an orderly manner via the escape hatch during the drill, fully demonstrating the importance of staying calm during a fire.

The Fire Services Bureau appreciated SJM’s support and cooperation and expressed that the seminar and fire extinguisher practice had further enhanced the employees’ fire safety awareness, ability to deal with emergencies, and evacuation techniques. All these will help effectively prevent the occurrence of fire incidents and protect public safety, including people’s lives and properties.
