SJM hosts fireside chat with SJM Theodore PREMA Racing for students to promote Macau’s racing culture
14 November 2023 - SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) has been actively supporting the “Macau Grand Prix” over the years, continuing its title sponsorship of the internationally renowned SJM Theodore PREMA Racing annually, and playing a key role in the development of Macau’s racing history and culture. On the occasion of the 70th edition of the Macau Grand Prix, SJM invited SJM Theodore PREMA Racing to hold a fireside chat on 14 November 2023 afternoon at the Macau Grand Prix Museum, introducing nearly 50 local students from the University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, City University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic University and Millennium Secondary School to the history of Macau’s racing and the stories behind the victories of its star drivers.
The youth dialogue was led by Mr. Teddy Yip Jr., son of “Mr. Grand Prix” Teddy Yip and Team Principal of SJM Theodore PREMA Racing, Team Manager Mr. René Rosin, along with Engineer Mr. Daniel Chindamo, Mechanic Mr. Mario Gavidia and three F3 drivers, including Mr. Paul Aron, Mr. Dino Beganovic and Mr. Gabriele Minì. In addition to sharing their unique experiences competing around the world, the dialogue also highlighted the critical roles played by different team members, including team managers, engineers, and mechanics. The drivers who stand on the podium represent just one aspect of the team, with the honor being shared by all members.
Through engaging personal stories, the participating students gained a deeper understanding of the career paths in professional racing and the motorsport industry, encouraging them to actively consider their future career plans and to get involved in Macau’s annual international sports event, with the team spirit being a source of positive energy for the students.
To further promote Macau’s racing culture, SJM is organising a variety of activities in the Macau community, inviting people from different sectors of society to participate. SJM tourism ambassador Sam the Rooster will present racing-themed pop-up performances with dancers in the vicinity of Ponte 16 at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. from 16 to 19 November. Additionally, from now until 19 November, there will be a lighting show of Sam the Rooster dressed in racing attire next to Kam Pek Community Centre, running from 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Furthermore, the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau is currently hosting a special exhibition from now until 30 November, showcasing premier Formula 3 racing equipment, rallying the city to support the 70th Macau Grand Prix.
