6 October 2023 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) donated a total of 1,600 items of brand new showering sets, coded locks and clothes storage bags to the Happy Market Social Enterprise of Fuhong Society of Macau (“Happy Market”), to support the service development of Happy Market and provide employment opportunities for persons of disability.

The donation ceremony took place at the Happy Market on 6 October, attended by Grand Lisboa Palace Resort’s Assistant Vice President - Housekeeping Mr. Chris Wen, and Assistant Director - Housekeeping Mr. Robert Tong.  Fuhong’s Director Ms. Jennifer Chau and Executive Manager Ms. Cheok Man I expressed gratitude to SJM for the support.  Additionally, SJM donated books collected from its team members to the Happy Market, aiming to breathe new life into the second-hand books and promote a reading culture in the local community.

Established by the Fuhong Society of Macau in July 2015, the Happy Market operates under the concepts of innovation, environmental protection, and public welfare. It gathers both brand-new and well-preserved second-hand items from the public and enterprises, refurbishes and clean them, and makes them available for sale at lower prices to those in need. The primary goal is to provide a wider range of employment opportunities for the disabled people and help them explore potential career paths.

SJM will continue to organise various activities to assist families and individuals in need, to promote the spirit of good neighborliness and mutual assistance. Furthermore, SJM encourages its team members to nurture environmentally friendly habits, emphasising on the importance of reusing resources and contributing to the sustainable development of our society.
