2023 SJM Local MSME Procurement Cooperation Forum
28 September 2023 - SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) has been a staunch supporter of local small and medium-sized enterprises, committed to promoting the diversified development of Macau’s economy. Following a business matchmaking event held in June this year, SJM once again hosted a procurement cooperation forum on 28 September 2023. Launched in collaboration with the Macau Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises, the “2023 SJM Local MSME Procurement Cooperation Forum” was held at the Grand Lisboa Hotel (“Grand Lisboa”) Grand Ballroom. Supported by Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region - Economic and Technological Development Bureau (“DSEDT”), the event invited over 50 local MSMEs across 13 industries for discussions.
Distinguished guests at the event included Ms. Chan Tze Wai, Deputy Director of DSEDT; Mr. Chang Chak Io, Deputy Director General of the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center; Dr. Paul Hung, President - Security, Surveillance & Environmental, Social, and Governance of SJM and Ms. Melinda Chan, Vice President of the Federal General Commercial Association of Macau Small and Medium Enterprises.
Under a warm and friendly atmosphere, procurement specialists from SJM engaged in focused, one-on-one dialogues with representatives from a diverse array of MSMEs. These discussions allowed company representatives to showcase their unique offerings - ranging from products to services - while also exploring avenues for future collaboration in line with market trends. The procurement cooperation forum attracted participation from over 50 local MSMEs, representing a broad spectrum of industries including marketing, cleaning services, facility management, operational supplies, beverages, food, logistics, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, IT, laundry services, human resources, and security services. Several MSME representatives noted the invaluable opportunity the procurement cooperation forum provided for direct communication with SJM, enabling a deeper understanding of the company’s procurement requirements, processes, and policies. This, in turn, laid a solid foundation for potential future partnerships. To acknowledge the contributions and engagement of the MSMEs, Ms. Chan Tze Wai, Deputy Director of DSEDT, Ms. Melinda Chan, Vice President of the Federal General Commercial Association of Macau Small and Medium Enterprises along with Dr. Paul Hung, President - Security, Surveillance & Environmental, Social, and Governance of SJM, presented certificates of appreciation to the attendants.
SJM fully supports the government’s policy of prioritising local procurement and supporting SMEs. Through various types of discussions and matchmaking activities, SJM aims to establish an efficient communication platform, further opening sustainable development opportunities in areas such as “Small and Micro Enterprises,” “Made in Macau,” “Youth Entrepreneurship” and “Medium Enterprise.” Through implementing the “SJM & Macau SME Procurement Partnership Programme”, SJM provides practical support to local MSMEs in developing original products and expanding their business opportunities. In May 2022, SJM further introduced a “Made in Macau” zone on the first floor of the Grand Lisboa Palace shopping centre, with the aim of providing exposure to products created by several local MSMEs, driving cooperation between MSMEs and integrated resorts, and establishing a creative hub for local brands in Macau.
