4 August 2023 - SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) actively organises various sports events and extended activities to cultivate local sports talents and promote a vibrant sports culture within the community. Following the successful collaboration with the University of Macau for a tennis experience day in November 2022, SJM has once again partnered with its Office of Sports Affairs  in 2023 to co-organise a two-week free “Tennis Experience Camp” during the summer vacation. The camp was instructed by university tennis players, allowing young people to experience the joy of tennis and encouraging them to actively engage in sports activities. The camp concluded with a closing ceremony held at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (“Grand Lisboa Palace”) on 4 August 2023, where 16 participants who had successfully completed the course were commended.

At the closing ceremony, Ms. Grace Chau, Director of Office of Sports Affairs of the University of Macau, SJM representatives, tennis instructors, participating teenagers and their parents gathered to recap the highlights of the two-week experience and appreciate the remarkable progress made by the students, who had gradually mastered basic skills such as swinging and hitting. SJM expressed delight in the success of the “Tennis Experience Camp” and expressed its hope that the event would instill a lasting interest in sports among the participants, encouraging them to continue practicing and improving, and exemplifying sportsmanship in their everyday lives.

The participants were awarded completion certificates and enthusiastically shared their impressions and experiences of the event. Participants expressed their belief that summer vacation is the best time for self-growth, and the camp not only inspired them with the joy of playing tennis, but also provided an opportunity to discover a new hobby and make friends who share the same interest. It was undoubtedly a rewarding summer holiday for all involved.

SJM is committed to promoting the development of local sports and supporting international sports events in Macau. From 17 to 20 August 2023, SJM will host the “2023 SJM 11^th Asian Junior Wushu Championships” in Macau to foster local sports talents and contribute to Macau’s success as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure with the integration of Macau's “Sports + Tourism” sector.
