27 June 2023 – SJM’s Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau and Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 won the silver and bronze awards, respectively, at the “2022 Macao Green Hotel Award”. These awards serve as testaments to SJM’s outstanding achievements in environmental management.

The “Macao Green Hotel Award” is organised by the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Macau SAR Government and collaborated by the Macao Government Tourism Office. The Award, valid for three years, recognises hotels which have successfully implemented environmental measures. 

SJM is committed to building a low carbon future and has considered and planned green features even during the design stage of GLP, resulting in the hotel being awarded the silver certification of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®). GLP has set targets aiming for continued improvements in various environmental aspects and has also adopted green building and environmental facilities in line with the international environmental standards, in order to reduce resource consumption, food waste and greenhouse gas emissions. The other awardee hotel - Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 has also made tremendous efforts in practising energy conservation and emission reduction measures, as well as green hospitality service.

SJM fully supports the National 14th Five-Year Plan and the Macao Environmental Protection Plan (2021-2025), joining hands with the Macau SAR Government to building a sustainable city for both living and travelling, and to promoting the development of more green infrastructure in the Greater Bay Area.
