20 May 2023 - Upholding its core value of “From the society, For the society”, SJM Resorts, S.A. ("SJM") has been attaching great importance to the all-rounded development of local youths, with the goal of helping the young generation to unleash their potentials and pave their way for a better future. SJM invited young adults from Centro Residencial Arco-Iris Youth Home of Caritas Macau and Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office to participate in the Workplace Experience Series at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau ("Grand Lisboa Palace") on 15 April 2023 and 20 May 2023 respectively. The event includes vocational training seminars, Q&A sessions and a visit to the resort’s back-of-house areas, designed to inspire young people from different backgrounds on career development.

During the vocational training seminars, SJM team members shared practical knowledge such as interview skills, resume writing and dress etiquette. The participants learnt about the employment standards of large-scale integrated resorts, as well as gained further understanding of corporate workflows and workplace culture at the interactive Q&A sessions. Following which, SJM staff led participants on a back-of-house tour, where they were exposed to the inner working of different divisions, including Floral, Housekeeping and Linen. They were introduced to emergency handling protocols, Forbes five-star service standard upheld by the resort, as well as how large quantities of linen are handled by automation systems. In addition, participants also observed workflow at the loading area. Through such experience, the young adults gained valuable insights into the intricacies of large-scale resort operations. Not only did the experience strengthen their understanding of workplace environments, but also instilled confidence by reinforcing their job seeking skills, empowering them to prepare early and build a solid foundation for their future career.
