
SJM fosters professional development for young employees
2 March 2023 – In response to the Macau SAR Government’s policies of “Developing Macau through education” and “Cultivating talents for the development of Macau”, SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) fully supports the Macau Education and Youth Development Bureau (“DSEDJ”) in the “Macau Youth Development” programme.
The signing of a letter of intent between DSEDJ and SJM was held at the University of Macau on 2 March 2023. Witnessed by Ms. Ho Loc San, Chief of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr. Li Xuefei, Director-General of the Department of Education and Youth Work of the Macau Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, and Mr. Daniel Shum, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of SJM, the letter of intent was signed by Mr. Gong Zhiming, Director of DSEDJ and Mr. Jones Chao, Vice President of Human Resources of SJM.
The programme consists of three phases, namely, courses on the nation and Macau SAR, on-the-job training, as well as advanced training and field trips in the Mainland. With the goals to cultivate young talents with aspirations, ability and commitment, the programme is designed to foster Macau’s young employees to serve Macau and the Motherland with a patriotic heart and global perspective.
The first training phase was conducted from 14 to 18 November 2022 at the University of Macau with the participation of two young local employees from SJM. The training covered topics such as National Constitution, National Security, the Basic Law of Macau, policies of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macau Deep Cooperation Zone, Technology Development and Big Data. Participants also visited the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine at the University of Macau. Through enhancing knowledge on multiple fronts, the young people came to know more about the Mainland and the SAR, enabling them to further integrate into the overall national development plan.
SJM will join forces with the Henry Fok Foundation on the planning of an one-month internship programme in Nasha for its two employees, covering the creative and cultural sector, hospitality, and themed restaurant services, etc. with the objective to reinforce the young employees’ national identity and deepen their understanding of the Greater Bay Area, while enhancing their professional knowledge and work experience through practical training.
In the third phase - advanced training and outreach programme, DSEDJ will collaborate with Tsinghua University in Beijing to offer training courses from 19 to 23 June 2023.
