13 April 2023 - Organized by SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) and coordinated by SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee (“SWCC”), the launch ceremony of SJM Vocational Skills Competition was held at the Grand Pavilion of Grand Lisboa Palace on 13 April 2023. The competition will cover three main areas: casino gaming, Chinese and Western cuisine and hospitality, as well as housekeeping and facility maintenance. The response to the event was enthusiastic, with a total of over 160 applications received from staff members.

In addition to providing an exchange platform for its employees, SJM also aims to reinforce and enhance their vocational skills through competitions. Ms. Angela Leong, Director of SJM and Chairman of SWCC, remarked in her speech the reform and innovative development of various business sectors in Macau after the pandemic. SJM, upholding the “people-oriented” principle, always encourages its staff members to constantly sharpen their skills to better equip themselves for the future. This competition will not only demonstrate the initiative and creative power of the participants, it also aims to strengthen the company’s competitiveness along with its staff members, joining forces together to strengthen Macau’s position as a world-class centre of tourism and leisure.

Attended by 250 department heads and contestants from the company, the launch ceremony included an introduction on the games, performances by SJM cheering team, and taped encouragement messages from respective departments. The contests will take place at Grand Lisboa Palace from mid-April to May 2023, with an award ceremony scheduled for 1 June 2023.
