With its deep roots in Macau, SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) continues to uphold its core value of “from society, to society”, and ceaselessly gives back to the community of Macau. On 24 February 2023, SJM provided one of their top chefs to the “Corner of Portuguese Cuisine Cantinho Luso” at the Fuhong Society to provide catering training to the Society’s staff and students in a bid to unleashing their potential as well as integrating into society.

The participating guests included Mr. Daniel Shim, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of SJM; Mr. Paul Lo, Food & Beverage Director for Grand Lisboa Hotel; Chef Andy Lam, Executive Chef from Western Kitchen of Grand Lisboa Hotel; Mr. Wong Hou, Vice Chairman of Management Committee of Fuhong Society of Macau; and Ms. Jennifer Chao, Director of Fuhong Society of Macau. Andy Lam, the Executive Chef from the Western Kitchen of Grand Lisboa Hotel was invited to the Corner of Portuguese Cuisine Cantinho Luso, where he demonstrated a mouthwatering “Grilled and Baked Bacalhau with Garlic and Olive Oil” for the restaurants’ staff and students. With his patient guidance, they have learnt the basics of the new recipe. Additionally, Chef Lam also shared his essential experience in kitchen operations and inventory management, enabling the restaurants’ service staff and students to gain more industrial insight and expand their career possibilities.

This dish will soon be included in the restaurants’ proud new menu with broadened selections.

The Corner of Portuguese Cuisine Cantinho Luso is a specialty restaurant that is open to the public and provides Macanese cuisine. The purpose of the establishment is to provide its staff and students with all-rounded education and training in the catering industry, to build confidence in their work and also contribute to society.
