SJM hosts extended activities for Grand Prix to support diverse development of Macau’s international sporting events
SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) hosted a colourful array of activities at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (“Grand Lisboa Palace”) to turbocharge the 69th Macau Grand Prix festivities and boost the celebrations to the next level. SJM also invited the Theodore Racing Formula 4 team to join activities, further enhancing development of Macau’s premier international sporting event.
Grand Lisboa Palace waved a chequered flag to the annual Macau Grand Prix with its VR entertainment zone “Thrilling Discovery.” Via immersive digital media, guests experienced (and endured) high levels of physical fitness demanded in the virtual world as never before. In particular, the “Speed Racer” arcade game featured an impressive three-sided wrapround video screen and a motion-sensitive driver’s seat that envelopes the racer in the cockpit in the midst of all the action. SJM also invited a group of children from the Mong Ha Community Center of the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM) to experience the VR installation on 19 November 2022, offering an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of lapping the circuit from the driver’s seat alongside Grand Prix’s star racers, Theodore Racing’s Charles Leong and partnering team Blackjack Racing’s Li Sicheng. Leong and Li also signed autographs and posed for photos, much to the excitement of the young fans. Throughout the activity, the two racers were perfect ambassadors for motorsport, spreading the exciting culture of motor racing upon a new generation of enthusiasts.
The dynamic duo then went on to join the “Grand Prix After Party” at Grand Lisboa Palace’s signature dining restaurant Mesa, where they sampled a range of themed refreshments tailor-made for the Grand Prix. Guest mixologist Tong Li and master mixologist Nokoy Mak explained how the bespoke cocktails were inspired by elements of motorsports, as the two racers created their own cocktails under the guidance of the two mixologists. Garnering praise from the drivers, the Grand-Prix-themed culinary offerings not only exemplified Macau’s position as a UNESCO “Creative City of Gastronomy,” it also showcased how SJM revelled in the unparalleled racing culture and history of the Macau Grand Prix.
