SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”), SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee (“SWCC”) and SJM Joint Consultative Committee (“SJCC”) jointly organized a National Day reception in celebration of the 73^rd Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China today at the Grand Ballroom of Grand Lisboa Hotel. The event was hosted by the company’s Managing Director Ms. Daisy Ho, Director of SJM and Chairman of SWCC Ms. Angela Leong, Secretary-General Dr. Rui Cunha, Consultant of SJCC Mr. Vong Hin Fai and close to 120 management members.

On the occasion, Managing Director Ms. Daisy Ho remarked, “Over the past decade marked by a new era, China made great achievements that attracted worldwide attention, eradicated poverty and successfully built a moderately prosperous society in all respects. With the opening of the 20^th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (“CPC”), SJM proudly joins hands with all the people in China to embark on a new journey to advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts. The Central Government led by President Xi earnestly cares for Macau as evident during the pandemic, when immediate medical and policy support were sent our way to help weather the health crisis. SJM will continue to uphold its ‘Love the Motherland, Love Macau’ core value, and encourage team members to learn from the 20^th National Congress report. We will continue to firmly support the government in advancing the cause of ‘One Country, Two Systems’ and cementing the principle of ‘patriots governing Macau’”. She continued, “Macau is ushering in a new chapter for its gaming industry. We are full of confidence in Macau’s future and will continue to support the government in promoting economic diversification and fostering innovation, telling Macau’s story and conveying China’s voice.” Ms. Daisy Ho also expressed her gratitude towards all staff for standing united with the company amidst the pandemic, and to the SJM Volunteer Team members for their selfless service to those in need.

Ms. Angela Leong, Director of SJM and Chairman of SWCC, hailed the many momentous achievements China made in the year, including the successful hosting of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, as well as advancements in astronautics with Shenzhou XIV and Tiangong Space Station pioneering various missions. These are testaments to the Chinese innovative spirit, and dedication towards constant progress and new breakthroughs. SJM shares the same determination, paying its duty to Macau and to the Motherland by strengthening its competitiveness day in and out, and making solid contributions to the community on this journey. This year, the gaming industry will undergo significant transformation. She is confident that the economy will benefit and thrive under the supportive government policies and enter a new era.

Led by the Board, all staff raised a toast to China’s continued prosperity and bright future, and to the harmonious development of Macau. Coinciding with the 20^th CPC National Congress which kick-started on 16 October, the reception concluded with the showing of a special program titled “In Celebration of the Successful Opening of the 20^th CPC National Congress”. As China embarks on a new journey towards its second centenary goal of building a great modern country, SJM staff celebrated the glory with national pride, and eagerly discerned key takeaways from the National Congress.

Due to the pandemic, a video of the National Day Reception will be on display at backend staff area, so that those who were unable to join in person could share in the joyous occasion. SJM has long been an active promoter of national education. The Company consistently encourages a sense of national identity among staff and promotes loyalty to the Motherland and Macau.
