Following in Dr. Stanley Ho’s footsteps and guided by his motto “From the Society, For the Society”, SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) strives to selflessly give back to the community. SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee championed a week-long campaign to spread love and share blessings by reaching out directly to vulnerable communities over the Mid-Autumn period, with the SJM Volunteer Team bringing warmth to 210 underprivileged families and over 700 beneficiaries, including members of the Macau Special Olympics and Macau Association of the Hearing Impaired, elderly persons living alone, single-parent families and low-income households.

SJM “Mid-Autumn Heart-Warming Drive” started on 5 September 2022 with the SJM Volunteer Team meeting with members of the Macau Special Olympics to keep in touch with their latest situations and encouraged them to actively engage with society. The Team also visited the Macau Association of the Hearing Impaired to experience sign language training alongside those suffering from hearing impairments and their families. Following which, the SJM Volunteer Team was divided into smaller groups and headed out to visit elderly persons living alone, single-parent families and low-income households, under the guidance of Macau Social Services Centre. The SJM Volunteer Team was able to make immediate differences to their lives with practical gestures, from handyman work around the house to offering small household appliances, as well as companionship and heartwarming conversation in their homes.

On behalf of SJM, the Team also offered festive hampers comprising seasonal fruits and mooncakes to the families to share the spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival.   

Chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee, Ms. Angela Leong applauded the outstanding outcome of the campaign, and extended gratitude to all participating volunteers who are the bedrock of the company’s charitable initiatives, particularly during pandemic times when the disadvantaged groups will require extra care and support.
