Under the spirit of the “Cultivate Talents and Build Macau Together” Cooperation Agreement entered into earlier by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (“DSEDJ”) and SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”), the two co-organised the Parent Education Series, with the official kick-off ceremony took place in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Lisboa Hotel on 31 May 2022. Those in attendance included Sub-director of Education and Youth Development Bureau Mr. Teng Sio Hong, Chief of Division of Infant and Primary Education Ms. Choi Man Chi, Director of Parenting Education Centre Ms. Sou Chi Man, Vice-President and Secretary General of The Women’s General Association of Macau Ms. Chong Leng Leng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM Ms. Daisy Ho and Managing Director of SJM Ms. Angela Leong.
For the first lecture, SJM invited Macau’s Level 1 Secondary School Teacher Mr. Lou Pak Sang to speak of “One Person’s Upbringing” with over 200 staff members attending. Lao shared the five traditional Chinese values “Temperament, Kindness, Respect, Thrift and Comity” in his storytelling to the audience, and explained how parents’ actions, words, manners and online behaviour impact children.
SJM also invited Family counselor from The Women’s General Association of Macau Ms. Chao Kam Kin to share ways to manage stress by “accepting your emotions and be kind to yourself”. Parents were shown effective ways of de-stressing, and to encourage communication in the family and strengthen relationships.

SJM thoroughly appreciates the importance of family, and has organised many parent-child activities for its staff, including national education, parent-child sports events, parent-child hobby classes, children summer recreational classes and creativity workshops. SJM also awards scholarships to outstanding children of our staff. We hope to build closer families and a warmer community through these activities, and instill the 'Love Country, Love Macau' sentiment in our next generation.”
SJM signed the “Cultivate Talents and Build Macau Together” Cooperation Agreement on 7 March 2022, which includes a series of staff training activities, and dozens of classes to staff families, to improve parent-child relationships, promote family harmony, and contribute to social stability.
