SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) and the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (“CPTTM”) are pleased to jointly organise the “Grand Lisboa Palace – Beyond Legendary‧Grand Gala” Wedding Gown Design Contest, which was announced on 26 May 2022 at a press conference held at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (“Grand Lisboa Palace”). The objective of the contest is to provide a cradle for local fashion design talents, spotlight “Made in Macau” creations, promote the synergistic integration of  “Tourism + Cultural Creativity + Wedding”, and propel Macau into a wedding tourism destination.

The press conference was attended by Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM; Dr. Rui Cunha, Secretary-General of SJM; Ms. Victoria Kuan, Director General of CPTTM; as well as a group of designers from the Macau fashion design industry.

Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, remarked, “SJM has long invested in the nurturing of design and creative professionals in Macau to enrich and diversify our economic offerings. We are honoured to co-organise this wedding gown design contest with CPTTM, to offer a practical platform for our designers to showcase their original designs, highlight the cultural charm and unique heritage of the city, and position Macau front and centre internationally as an ideal wedding destination as we capitalize upon the synergistic values of Tourism + Cultural Creativity + Wedding”.

Ms. Victoria Kuan, Director General of CPTTM, said, “The Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center and SJM have always maintained solid partnership. We are coming together once again to co-organise this wedding-themed design competition. We hope that designers in Macau can seize this valuable opportunity to challenge themselves in creating bespoke, stylish, iconic and elegant pieces. Under the theme of ‘chinoiserie’, designers will create wedding gowns that fuses the best of Eastern and Western cultural elements, through which we can together push the frontier of Macau’s cultural and creative industries.”

As the theme of the “Grand Lisboa Palace – Beyond Legendary‧Grand Gala” Wedding Gown Design Contest is chosen to reflect the contemporary chinoiserie design of Grand Lisboa Palace, SJM will arrange a special guided tour of the Resort on 28 May 2022 at 3:30 p.m. to inspire contestants. During the tour, SJM will explain the contemporary chinoiserie elements, the East-meets-West architectural features and the collection of commissioned local artworks of the Resort, which is the largest in any integrated resort in Macau.

Registration for the “Grand Lisboa Palace – Beyond Legendary‧Grand Gala” Wedding Gown Design Contest is now open for any bridal fashion designer, wedding industry professional, or design enthusiast over 18 years old and a permanent resident of Macau.  Fabulous prizes will be awarded to the champion, first runner-up, second runner-up and other excellence awards, as well as prizes for the shortlisted contestants with value over MOP110,000. Judges for the contest comprise SJM and CPTTM representatives, as well as industry leaders from the Greater Bay Area. The award ceremony and wedding gown show will be held at Grand Lisboa Palace, which features elegant indoor and outdoor wedding venues.
