Under the support of the Social Welfare Bureau (“SWB”), SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) hosted the “First-Response and Caring Volunteers Seminar” on 26 May 2022, which was enthusiastically attended by 80 members from the SJM volunteer team as well as other departments.  

In 2019 and 2021, SJM rose to the call of the Macau SAR Government and established the First-Response Volunteer team and Caring Volunteer team respectively. The teams were valuable resources in post-typhoon community recovery campaigns and emergency services, and also contributed to disaster preparedness works. 

Managing Director of SJM and Chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee, Ms. Angela Leong expressed in her summary remark that it is imperative that regular seminars as such be organized in order to better complement government’s works in tackling extreme weather conditions. These seminars can effectively enhance awareness about the important role of SJM’s volunteering works, and allow participants to familiarize themselves with protocol procedures and guidelines to better prepare for future emergencies which may arise out of natural disasters.

Ms. Angela Leong thanked all members of the volunteer teams for protecting the community and taking part in SJM’s corporate social responsibility efforts.

The above seminar was coordinated by the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee, and carried out in strict accordance with the government’s pandemic control requirements. As the volunteer team continues to expand, SJM will continue to regularly arrange similar events in the future.
