
SJM supports traditional Chinese sports culture by participating in the Macao International Dragon Boat Races
SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) fully dedicated its support to the Macao International Dragon Boat Races as with previous years, as well as entered eight dragon boat teams in the upcoming event scheduled to take place on 29 May 2022 and 3 June 2022.
Ms. Angela Leong, Managing Director of SJM and Chairman of SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee, and Dr. Rui Cunha, Secretary-General of SJM, officiated at the launch ceremony of the SJM dragon boats at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre on 23 May 2022. Along with other members from senior management, they rooted for all teams competing at the event.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, applauded participants’ teamwork and excellent spirit, “Dragon Boat Racing is an integral part of our heritage and a long-standing traditional sport. It epitomizes our nation’s perseverance and resilience. I wish the SJM team can bring out the best of this spirit through this competition. Meanwhile, it is also a fabulous opportunity to share the traditions of Tuen Ng Festival with visitors and our community.”

SJM, a company firmly rooted in Macau, regularly participate in a myriad of Chinese cultural events to promote “Love Motherland Love Macau” nationalism among colleagues. Under the coordination of the SJM Cultural-Recreational and Social Services Department, two big dragon boats and six small dragon boats were formed, comprising a total of 96 male and female members, steered by Mr Chan Weng Kit as chief team leader and Mr Fok Chi Chiu as vice team leader.
SJM will participate in the Macao International Dragon Boat Races on 29 May 2022 and 3 June 2022 with eight dragon boats. Five dragon boats in the men’s group: SJM Golden Jubilee (Large), SJM Golden Jubilee A (Small), SJM Golden Jubilee B (Small), SJM Prosperity A (Small), and SJM Prosperity B (Small), and three dragon boats in the women’s group: SJM Lotus (Large), SJM Lotus A (Small) and SJM Lotus B (Small). All crew members will participate in strict accordance to health requirements of the Macao SAR Government to protect the community. SJM teams are looking forward to strive for their best in this thrilling competition.
