SJM showcases “tourism + gastronomy + sports” in dazzling drone show
SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) brightened the Macau skyline at the “Light Up Macau Drone Gala 2022” show, organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) held on 7 May 2022. Bringing to life the “Golden Fall Delights” theme, a swarm of 880 drones adorned the sky with Mid-Autumn and National Day images. The captivating experience also included images that highlighted SJM’s contribution in gastronomy and major sporting events, as well as its signature architecture which have become top-of-list tourism landmarks. The spectacle served as a special tribute to the city’s transformation towards “tourism+” for the benefit and sustainable growth of the economy.
The drones illuminated the night sky with dynamic animations depicting SJM’s pioneering role in cultivating the rich culinary culture of Macau. Grand Lisboa Hotel is home to the most Michelin 3-star restaurants in Macau. Two restaurants at the hotel – Robuchon au Dôme and The 8 – are proud Michelin 3-star recipients. Moreover, Michelin has named SJM as its “Official Partner” for the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong and Macau from 2022 to 2024. Together, the two will work in close association to promote gastronomy as a cornerstone of Macau tourism.
Firmly rooted in Macau, SJM has not merely created attractions but also landmarks that have become some of the most recognizable icons of Macau. Drone formations of SJM’s three iconic properties, including Hotel Lisboa, Grand Lisboa and Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, captured the legendary history of the company, with the latest Grand Lisboa Palace marking the beginning of a new chapter.
The drones then reassembled to form images of Macau Grand Prix and the CTA Tour, two major international sports events supported by SJM. Apart from its long established partnership with Macau Grand Prix, SJM is also title sponsor for the CTA Tour SJM Professionals Finals (Macau) and National Tennis Championships. By introducing this national-level tennis tournament to Macau for the first time in 2021 and in future, SJM remains solidly committed to enriching the offers of this “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, said, “We are most honoured to support MGTO’s ‘Light Up Macau Drone Gala 2022’, following its resounding success last year. This mesmerizing aerial show celebrates the city’s united efforts in our drive towards ‘tourism +’, and our own efforts in forging a gastronomy and international sporting events destination. We are delighted to bring joy and excitement to our community through this event, and look forward to supporting more events as such to deepen cross-border collaboration and bolster Macau’s economy.”
