SJM supports Earth Hour 2022
SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) once again supported the annual Earth Hour lights-out campaign. All of the hotels and casinos of SJM switched off their exterior lights and non-essential indoor lights on Saturday 26 March 2022 from 8:30pm for one hour. By supporting this global green initiative, SJM aimed to join forces with the community to reduce energy consumption and promote sustainable development.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, said, “As a socially responsible company, SJM is pleased to join forces with people around the world in the Earth Hour campaign to promote environmental awareness. We have invited our team members to participate by switching off non-essential lights in the office and at home. We will continue with our efforts in reducing energy consumption, in full support of the Macau Government’s environmental protection plan to make the city a low carbon emission centre.”
In addition to joining the annual Earth Hour event, SJM has also launched a series of sustainable practices aiming to reduce energy consumption and to raise employees’ awareness towards environmental protection. These include encouraging employees to turn off all non-essential office lights and electrical equipment during lunch hours, and to set air conditioners at no lower than 25 degrees Celsius. Grand Lisboa Palace Resort, for the first time, participates in the “Monthly Earth Hour” event on Cotai by turning off all of its non-essential lights every first Tuesday of the month, contributing to the sustainable development of Macau.
