SJM supports local sports and cultural events to accelerate tourism+
21 November 2021 witnessed the dual support of SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) towards two major events in Macau: as the title sponsor of the SJM Formula 4 Macau Grand Prix and as the venue sponsor of the Coastal Rock Concert at the hush! 2021 Music Festival. Both events were a tremendous success, immensely popular with local residents and visitors.
Macau driver Charles Leong Hon Chio was crowned champion, for the second consecutive year, of the SJM Formula 4 Macau Grand Prix, the finale race of the 68th Macau Grand Prix on 22 November, while Andy Chang Wing Chung and Li Si Cheng took the second and third place, respectively. After the race, the Chief Executive of Macau SAR, Mr. Ho Iat Seng presented the trophy to the winner, while Managing Director of SJM Ms. Angela Leong and Secretary-General Dr. Rui Cunha presented to the first and second runner ups.
In the same afternoon, SJM also supported the Coastal Rock Concert, highlight of the hush! 2021, held at Inner Harbour’s Barra Pier. At the invitation of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, SJM offered its vessel “STDM No. 1” (formerly a dredger) to be used as a performance stage for the music bands. While promoting pop music, the event also showcased the long-term commitment of SJM in dredging Macau’s harbours. SJM also had on site an interactive display and game booth themed around the dredging works, enabling the public to understand more about the importance of dredging to Macau’s economy and community.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, said, “Firmly rooted in Macau, SJM is committed to promoting the diversified development of Macau tourism. We are honoured to be the title sponsor of SJM Formula 4 Macau Grand Prix as well as venue sponsor of the Coastal Rock Concert. Through supporting these two local annual events, we aim to help deepen cross-sector integration of ‘tourism + sports’ and ‘tourism + culture’. SJM will continue to organise more events in support of the Government’s efforts in accelerating ‘tourism+’, to further strengthen Macau’s position as a ‘world centre of tourism and leisure’ and to inject more energy into the economy.”
