SJM supports the Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum and Exhibition 2021 and promotes sustainable development
Dedicated to promoting sustainable development, SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) participated in the Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum & Exhibition 2021 (“MIECF 2021”), hosted by Macau SAR Government and coordinated by Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and Environmental Protection Bureau of the Macau SAR Government. The exhibition was originally scheduled to take place from 5 to 7 August 2021 both online and offline. However, due to the latest COVID-19 developments, all offline activities were cancelled to avoid crowd gathering. The online activities, such as online exhibition and online business matching, were retained so as to promote green messages to the community.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, said, “We are proud to join people from across the globe to promote sustainable development by raising awareness about cherishing the earth’s resources. We have also encouraged our employees to participate in the environmental protection campaigns. Dedicated to enhancing the green development in the community, SJM will continue integrating environmental sustainability strategies and new technologies into our operations. Furthermore, SJM fully supports the Government in building a low-carbon city ideal for living, working and travelling and to promote the green development of the Greater Bay Area. Meanwhile, SJM supports and nurtures the development of green enterprises, joining hands with them to introduce green products to Macau for the sake of building a prosperous green economy.”
Grand Lisboa Palace Resort was built as one of SJM’s most sustainable and green integrated resorts. At the project’s onset, SJM has set measurable green objectives to guide its planning and construction. A host of eco-friendly features and measures have been integrated into the project to address our major environmental impacts, for example, applying advanced technologies to handle unavoidable food waste, as well as using environmentally friendly products at the resort’s wellness facilities. In 2020, Grand Lisboa Palace was awarded the prominent Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (“LEED”) Silver certification in appreciation of its compliance with stringent building standards in areas of sustainable sites, energy and atmosphere, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, innovation in design and regional priority.
