Telling China’s stories amongst staff and families, promoting patriotic education
In celebration of the centennial of the Chinese Communist Party, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (“SJM”) organised a workshop “Tell China’s Stories” for staff and their children on 20 June 2021 at the headquarters of Macao Federation of Trade Unions. The activity aimed to pass on the spirit of “Love the Motherland and Love Macau” from generation to generation.
The workshop comprised two parts. It started with a talk by patriotic education instructor Mr. Yang Cheng on the Chinese Communist Party. Aided by a vivid video, the interactive talk covered the Party’s formation and stories of the martyrs. The children paid great attention to the talk and responded actively in the quiz session that followed. In the second part, an art and craft teacher taught the children to make Red Army bags using simple sewing methods with the assistance of their parents. Since the event coincided with The Father’s Day, the children also hand-made thank-you cards to express gratitude to their fathers. The day was filled with joy and warmth.
Joining the event were also Managing Director of SJM and Chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee Ms. Angela Leong, and Vice-President of the Board of Macao Federation of Trade Unions Mr. Choi Kam Fu, who shared the joyful moments with the families. Ms. Leong said the activity served as an important platform not only for enhancing parent-child communication, but also for passing on the spirit of “Love the Motherland and Love Macau”. She urged the staff members to encourage their children to participate more in these patriotic activities, enabling the next generation to have a deeper understanding of the history of our Country.
